Legal Regulation of Mobile Money Transfer Service in Tanzania
Abstract
This paper examines the need for legal regulation of mobile money transfer services in Tanzania. It notes that mobile money transfer services are supposed to be regulated by two institutions, namely, the Bank of Tanzania €“ on the financial aspect €“ and the Tanzania Telecommunications Regulatory Authority €“ on the telecommunications aspect. It is pointed out in this paper that the two institutions ought to work in collaboration in order to protect the consumers of the services. It is observed that there is no legal framework to regulate mobile money transfer services in Tanzania and hence the need for such legal framework in order to protect consumers of such services.Downloads
