Abstract

This work analyses the current Tanzanian legal framework onthe right to work and equality in the workplace for personswith disabilities (PWDs). The paper examines the extent andeffectiveness of the provisions in the Disability Act of 2010and other laws that govern right to employment to determinethe compliance of this Act with international human rightsstandards. Moreover, the challenges experienced by PWDsare explored in as far as their right to work and equality in theworkplace in Tanzania are concerned. Secondary data areemployed and reviewed. It has been found that, althoughTanzania's Persons with Disabilities Act of 2010demonstrates a concerted commitment to archive what isbest for PWDs, there is still inadequate implementation oflaws that address the entitlement of people with disabilities inTanzania. Hence, this work has made severalrecommendations to ensure adequate implementation oflaws and rights for PWDs.Key words: Right to Work, Equality, Workplace, Personswith Disabilities, Tanzania.
