Abstract

An increased failure rate of poverty eradication projects in Uganda hasbecome a concern of many stakeholders. This paper establishes therelationship between stakeholder involvement and Performance ofPoverty Eradication Projects as a strategy for improving public sectorwork in Uganda. Cross-sectional and operations research survey designswere used with a study sample of 323 NAADS projects undertaken in the28sub-counties of Mukono district. Results revealed that stakeholderinvolvement positively relates with and predicts performance of povertyeradication projects. This implies that in order to improve performanceof poverty eradication projects, stakeholders have to be highly involvedin the projects ' decision-making and other core activities. The studyrecommended teamwork amongst stakeholders, efficient and effectiveways of doing work in order to improve stakeholder involvement therebyimproving performance of projects.Key words: project, stakeholder, poverty, involvement
