Abstract

ThisstudyexaminedtheextenttowhichstudentsattheSt.John’sUniversityinDodomauseinformationandcommunicationtechnology(ICT)inlearning.Aquantitativeresearchdesignwasemployed,utilizingthesurveymethodtocollectdata.Conveniencesamplingwasusedtoselect110respondentswhosee-mailswereobtained.DatawasanalysedusingtheStatisticalPackageforSocialSciences(SPSS).Thechi-squaretestwasemployedtoexploretherelationshipbetweencertainvariables,whiletheSpearmant-testwasemployedtodeterminethecorrelationbetweenstudents’useofICTinlearningandtheirsearchcompetences.ThekeyfindingsindicatethatstudentsatSt.John’sUniversityhaveahighlevelofICTusageintheirlearningendeavours,despitesomeinadequaciesintheavailablelearningfacilities.Moreover,genderdoesnotsignificantlyinfluencetheapplicationofICTinlearning.Additionally,therewasnosignificantrelationshipfoundbetweentheuseofICTinlearningandstudents’competencesinsearchskills.Thestudyrevealsthatstudentsheavilyrelyonbothaudio-visualmaterialsandonlinetextualresources.Basedonthefindings,itisrecommendedthattheSt.John’sUniversitycontinuestoenhanceitsICTinfrastructuretofacilitateeffectiveaccessandutilizationofinformationbystudents.Librariesshouldallocatesufficientfundsforthesubscriptionofmostlyelectronicresourcesalongwithprintresources.
