Abstract
This study investigates the relationship between the use of vocabulary learningstrategies and vocabulary knowledge. The participants in the study were 39first-year students who had been enrolled on a Chinese language course at theUniversity of Dar es Salaam. The findings reveal that the participantsactively used the vocabulary learning strategies.
